SDN - an architecture for software programmable networks

The lecture discusses how the market defines what SDN is and explains Brocade’s vision in addressing this issue. The basis for SDN is a network infrastructure with great simplicity, but with support for technologies such as OpenFlow, OpenStack, NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) and overlay networks, using VxLAN, all themes addressed in the lecture. Within the category, NFV technologies such as virtual firewalls and routers (Vyatta) and virtual balancers are explored. Also addressed are methods of orchestration and network controllers such as OpenDayLight.
