Julio E. Ibarra, PhD

He is the Assistant Vice President for Technology Augmented Research at FIU (Florida International University), where he focuses on furthering the mission of the CIARA (Center for Internet Augmented Research and Assessment) – to contribute to the pace and the quality of research at FIU through the application of advanced Cyberinfrastructure. He is responsible for strategic planning and development of advanced research networking services, including the development and management of the AMPATH International Exchange Point for Research and Education networks. He is Principal Investigator of several NSF grants, including the Americas Lightpaths (AmLight) project (Award #ACI-0963053), FlowSurge (Award #ACI-1246185), OpenWave (Award #ACI-1341895), Secure Access For Everyone (SAFE) (Award #ACI-1440728), and SwitchOn – Exploring and Strengthening U.S.-Brazil Collaborations (Award #NSF-1443285).
