A proposal for the São Paulo research network

Born out of the São Paulo Universities’ growing need for higher bandwidth, greater autonomy in managing their links, and the requirement for an infrastructure capable of responding dynamically to changing traffic demands and current research in the academic environment, the São Paulo University Network project, emerged as an infrastructure capable of meeting the new demands of research networks. Using a dark fiber network design, operating under a DWDM transmission platform, the São Paulo Universities Network will provide high-speed connections between the university campuses and between other universities, enabling optimization of resources to connect to other networks, increasing their traffic capacity, increasing availability, and enabling their growth in a scalable, sustainable and dynamic way.
